About

Owl Cave Books is a San Francisco-based independent artist-run bookseller and publisher specializing in international contemporary art, theory, culture, and politics.

Established by artist and bookseller Viniita 'Vee' Moran in London in 2008 while she was also Bookshop Manager at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Owl Cave Books began with an invitation from artist Monster Chetwynd for Vee to lecture, perform, and run a feminist and gender theory book swap during one of Chetwynd’s multi night performance extravaganzas for GSK Contemporary at the Royal Academy of Arts. This developed into Owl Cave's continued participation in exhibitions, publications, art fairs, book fairs, and pop ups.

Now located in San Francisco, Owl Cave Books owners Vee and Brian Moran publish works on paper, participate in international art and book fairs and exhibitions, and sell a selection of books and editions online. They also regularly collaborate with other artists, publishers, galleries, and institutions on print projects, exhibitions, and events.
